The rocker arm controls the 30 amp breaker below the 100 amp breaker by keeping it shut off while the main 100 amp is on and vice versa. National electrical code requires a system in place that prevents an emergency generator from feeding back into the utility line. These interlock kits are designed specifically to work with siemens electrical panels. The interlock kit allows you to safely disconnect your panel from the utility feed and switch it over to the generator which is being fed through a new generator breaker.

I have a murray 100 amp main breaker box and the interlock switch fit perfectly over the 100 amp breaker. An electrician can easily mount the kit to your existing electrical panel. Only allow the the generator breaker to be switched on if the main breaker is off. Not allow the main breaker to be turned on unless the generator breaker is off.
